What Positive Psychology is NOT

What do you hear when you hear the words ‘positive psychology’? Many people think of positive thinking or positive affirmations. This is what positive psychology is not. So what is it? Well, it is a recognized science that is now twenty years old. It is a body of research that is researching what it is that enables human beings to thrive, what it is that creates the optimal human being. It is about creating more positive emotions in your life.

And why does that matter? Because the research shows that people who experience a ratio of 3:1 positive to negative emotions are considered to be thriving or living a flourishing life. This is a scientific, measurable term. And why does that matter? Because the research shows that when you lead a flourishing life, you are more creative, more productive, healthier, more enjoyable to be around and more successful. In other words, you will be happier. Would you like to be happier? Positive psychology has many keys to raising your happiness.
